What are the costs?

GetDeposit uses a pay-per-deposit model — you only pay when you create a deposit. The fee is 1% of the deposit amount. There are no monthly fees, no setup costs, and no contracts. Standard Stripe processing fees apply on top.

Stripe only charges fees when the guest's card is actually charged — placing a hold and capturing the deposit are free. Standard payment processing fees apply (typically 1.5% + €0.25 per transaction in Europe, though rates vary by country and card type). When am I charged?

You are charged the GetDeposit fee when the deposit is audited. Stripe processing fees are only charged when the guest's card is actually charged (e.g. when deducting damage) — holds and full refunds don't incur Stripe fees. If a deposit is never paid by the guest, you are not charged any fees. There are no recurring or monthly charges.

Do I have to pay for unused, cancelled, or unpaid deposits?

No. You are only charged the GetDeposit fee when a deposit is audited. If a deposit is never paid by the guest, is cancelled, or expires unused, you pay nothing — neither GetDeposit fees nor Stripe fees.

Deposits are collected via Stripe. The guest receives a payment link, and the deposit amount is held (not charged) on their card. After the audit, you can release the full amount, deduct for damages, or forfeit the deposit.

A deposit hold (authorization) is temporarily placed on the guest's card. If a hold expires before the audit is completed, GetDeposit automatically reauthorizes it to keep the deposit secured. In rare cases where reauthorization fails — for example, if the card has insufficient funds — the hold expires. However, the card remains on file, and you can still charge it directly through the audit process.

How quickly is the refund processed?

Refunds are processed instantly on our side — as soon as you complete the audit and choose to release the deposit, the refund is triggered immediately via Stripe. The funds typically appear on the guest's bank account within minutes to 7 days, depending on their bank. Guests can track their refund status in real time through the Track & Trace portal.

Yes. GetDeposit supports all major debit and credit cards through Stripe, including Visa, Mastercard, and American Express. Guests can pay with whichever card they prefer — the deposit hold works the same way on both debit and credit cards.

Yes. Even if the authorization hold expires, the guest's card remains securely stored on file. You can start an audit and charge the card directly for any damages. The charge will be processed as a regular card payment instead of capturing a pre-authorized hold.
